Acer has unveiled a 34-inch curvaceous monitor with Nvidia G-Sync. Monitors that are curved aren’t new either are monitors supporting G-Sync technology. What’s new here is that Acer has incorporated the two features in a single monitor – XR341CKA.
The XR341CKA is an ultra-wide 3.4-inch curved monitor with an In-Plane Switching panel. We haven’t seen yet, but we can bet it renders high-quality visuals. XR341CKA offers a resolution of 3440 by 1440 pixels and an aspect ratio of 21:9. It also offers 178-degree viewing angle. Acer claims that the XR341CKA covers 100 percent of the sRGB color gamut. XR341CKA is, therefore, good news for professionals who need a high level of color accuracy.
XR341CKA features 2x7W speakers, DTS sound and futuristic aluminum base presenting world-class sound with style. It also supports HDMI inputs and DisplayPort and has a built-in USB 3.0 hub that supports high-speed charging of mobile devices. If you love music, you have to try and lay your hands on this device.
Is a Curved Display Really Important?
A curved display puts both sides and all corners of the display at roughly the same distance from the viewer’s eyes. This quality provides for a more immersive and uniform viewing experience. The curved display also creates a wider field of view. Some users say the improved viewing experience is true while other disagree. So the best way to find out if it’s true is to head to a local shop where they sell curves displays and find out for yourself. Stand in front of a curved display and take note of the quality of the images you see, and then compare it with the quality of the images you see on a flat display.
What Role Does the G-Sync Play?
G-Sync makes a noticeable difference when gaming, in certain situations. It makes gaming so immersive and fluid. The XR341CKA supports multiple features that allow you to tune the monitor’s performance, including on-screen display, 6-axis color adjustment, and three different aim-point icons.
Availability and Pricing
The XR341CKA will be available in North America in September. The price will start at US $1,299. It will be available in EMEA in August, where the starting price will be €1,399. The monitor is expected in China in September with prices starting at ¥8,999. The exact prices, specifications, and availability will vary by region.
