The new Samsung Galaxy S7 which is yet to be released is rumored to be having a RAM twice as big as that of Apple’s 2GB mobile phone. Despite this, speculations have it that its speed is a bit disappointing compared to that of its greatest competitor the iPhone 6 which has been in the market for the past six months. To ascertain this, a survey was conducted on the four leading brands in the mobile phones market and these are Nexus 6P, Moto X, S7 edge and iPhone 6s. The main test conducted was that of finding out the amount of time required to open and close and App on each device and Apple’s iPhone 6 emerged the winner. Samsung’s S7 disappointed its fans by finishing the exercise 18 seconds later, which is such a long time when it comes to opening and closing Apps.
Let’s Compare Devices
For fairness, all these devices were operating on newly installed respective operating systems, had the same number of applications installed and were operating without SIM cards. The main aim here is to determine the speed with which the gadgets can run a succession of Apps all launched at the same time. It is not the first time this kind of comparison is being done between Samsung’s and Apple’s devices. iPhones have always won this speed contest despite having less superior hardware features.
Critiques however asserted that this comparison was unfair considering the other three brands including galaxy S7 edge were all operating on 1440 pixels display while iPhone 6s was operating on 1080 pixels display meaning that the three have more pixels to load and this automatically makes iPhone 6 faster. However, the management at Apple defended their product by asserting that the number of pixels plays an insignificant role in determining the speed of the gadgets. They added that the only sure parameter for determining speed is the efficiency of the software and hardware and how the two are integrated. This according to them is what made their product superior in speed compared to the rest.
Samsung Galaxy S7 comes with a 4GB RAM and its speed is boosted by the powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 octa-core processor. For Samsung, this is their best so far since it is the latest invention that is even yet to be released. Despite the seemingly failed speed tests, it has survived other tests including the far-reaching drop tests and water resistance tests. The success in these stress tests indicates that the phone is powerful in its own caliber despite the failed speed test. It is a gadget that can serve its users for a long time without need for replacement.
iPhone 6 on the other hand has an inferior processor powered by a dual core A9 chip and comes with a RAM of 2GB. Despite the smaller RAM, A9 chip is said to outperform the Snapdragon 820 processor. This is a huge disappointed to Samsung’s clients who had high hopes in the latest invention. They were eagerly waiting for the release but these findings killed their enthusiasm a great deal.
However, Samsung’s customers still have so much to look out to. The most interesting feature about this phone is the sleek design that allows it to fit perfectly on the hands. Its battery life is also something to go for considering power has been the biggest problem faced by smart phone users. Compared to the previous models and iPhones too it is more compact and easy to carry around.
To Conclude
Comparing iPhone 6 and Galaxy S7 in terms of hardware puts the later on the lead. The back of the Galaxy S7 is well rounded and this was made possible by a technological process known as Thermo Forming. The same curve appears on the front and this gives it a smooth feel. When placed side by side without considering the software features anyone would pick a Galaxy S7 over an iPhone 6. This could be Samsung’s main selling point targeting the young population who are more concerned with the hardware than software. Though the longer battery life could also be an advantage for them considering most people would rather have phones that will stay on longer even
